Why Optimism?
In 2011, we produced an outlier wine, the 2011 Optimism Rosé, our first foray into positive thinking in wine labeling. Optimism (and Boundless Optimism) wines are crafted by Adastra and may or may not use Adastra grapes. The grapes for this wine came from a tiny vineyard in Coombsville, just east of the City of Napa. The vineyard owner also keeps chickens and grows giant pumpkins, which he entered in competitions. Add in a large number of farm cats and the vineyard definitely had a mystical feel, though Edwin never saw the owner stirring a cauldron or chanting spells…
This was the first wine Edwin made from harvest to bottling. He made the wine at Talisman in Sonoma. Edwin is very grateful to Scott Rich, co-owner of Talisman for his support and advice. Here’s to Optimism!
